3 Step Biblical Framework for Story Telling When Selling

Many times we love to tell stories but we don’t know how to really execute what we think of telling others. We get overwhelmed by the mixed emotions we feel when we start speaking. Let me help you by sharing a 3-step Biblical Framework to guide you on telling your stories worth listening for!

The Lord spoke to me through this verse, Psalm 40:1-3 and this helped me build this framework which you can also use as a guide!

Step 1: Crying out and Surrendering to the Lord

This is the part where you first encounter your problem and have hit rock bottom. The season in your life where you don’t know where to go or what to do with the situation you’re facing and how you would deal with it and overcome it.

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.” Psalm 40:1

When you’ve reached the moment where you just can’t help but surrender to the Lord, that’s when this first step comes, you cry out and surrender to God. This is the first part of the story you’re about to tell. You need to tell people why you’ve come to your rock bottom although you don’t need to tell them the full details of it,  the moment where you acknowledged your weakness is the moment you also believe that God is the only source of hope you can have. So this is where it all begins, acknowledging, crying out, and surrendering. This is where you open up your story to people and get their attention to listen and crave for what you’re story’s ending will be.

Step 2: Your Rock Bottom

“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” Psalm 40:2

They say when you reach your rock bottom, the only way out is to go up. When you know that you’ve already hit that part of your life, you’ll clearly see how hopeless you are without God and so telling people how you’ve suffered in your darkest moments and how God’s light is shining forth in you, you’ll give them hope and encourage them that when they go through the toughest times, God is there for them to lift them up. This is where you start encouraging people that hope is only found in the Lord. That their rock bottom can be a place for God to form a firm foundation and that’s what we all want. Everyone wants to stand on a firm foundation and that is only through God’s help.

Step 3: Testimony

Now on the last step, you’re now about to close, and clearly, when God is on your side, there’s victory!

“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.” Psalm 40:3

It’s time to speak up that after everything you’ve been through, you’re now standing on a firm foundation. That whatever you’ve been through was a part of the process that formed you into a better and a braver child of God. The Finale of your storytelling should be more of what God has done in your situation and how He turned everything into good. How God can turn your mourning into dancing and your sorrow into joy. The part where you tell people how far God has brought you. Testings into testimonies and so do not waste every test you have for it will grow into a testimony!
